Productizing Set Your Freelance Rate
Week seventeen of 2015
I’ve been dabbling with this idea for some time now. I want to continue to build on the concept of setting your freelance rate. I mean, it’s one of the first hurdles you will face and it’s a hard topic to tackle. Combine that with the fact that I love to train others to achieve success in their business.
So this week I reached out to some of my fellow freelancers out there and asked them two questions.
1. What’s your biggest frustration when learning about setting your rates?
2. What websites, blogs, or forums do you visit now to learn about setting your rates?
I got some amazing responses from everyone and they will be very valuable in piecing this project together. You are more than welcome to answer these two questions in comments below if you like.
I also reached out to some of the more experienced consultants out there and asked them if they would like to contribute to an article I writing. You’ll have to wait for next week, but it’ll be both interesting and fun.
I’ll share the email I sent later on (so I don’t ruin the article). It worked quite well, I got responses from people I never thought I would hear back from if you asked me 6 months ago. One them even gave me a 9/10 for the cold outreach email! There will even be a downloadable content giveaway, courtesy from one of the Gurus.
What else is in the thinkbox?
In general a lot of exciting stuff in the works, can’t wait to share it all with you. But to share some ideas what’s in store, the article is the first of hopefully many useful free articles on the topic around pricing yourself. I plan on putting together some useful downloads with these articles as well.
A second book is coming later this summer I hope. And I plan on adding more content to the first book too. I used KDP Select on amazon and I’m not sure I’ll do that this time. Problem is that I lock myself to Amazon for 90 days exclusively. And I rather be in complete control, know who buys the book, send out new editions for free to those who bought the book, etc. We’ll see what I’ll do about that later this summer.
I’m going to setup a webinar when I get the time on the same topic. And for those who join in will get a free copy of the book. There will be a recording available if I do everything right.
I also plan on making some packages with the books, video training, exclusive content and some 1on1 coaching.
