Aftermath of the book launch
Week eleven of 2015
I wanted to talked to about what has happened after I launched my book. And let me tell you, this week has been quite amazing from what I’m used to. I ended up with 450+ free downloads during the free promotion and got 2 five star reviews on Amazon!
Got a some great feedback from some of my peers as well!
Hi again, Kenneth! I’ve completed reading your book, and I’m very excited to get the experience you have shared there! I’m junior front-end web developer from the center of Kazakhstan, I have little more than 1 year of industry experience, but looking further to the future I’m very sure that things you shared in that little book are very valuable to me. I’ve read a lot of web articles earlier, and there were many things I hadn’t seen before. The whole book is going to be my cheat sheet for a long time. I agree with you about the business relationships you describe there, and many other professional principles you talk about. Your book opened my eyes for a lot of nuances of freelance business (I guess it’s okay to call it ‘freelance’ while we’re not around clients, haha). So one day when I decide to start my own business helping people by providing my services in the web world – I’ll read your book again, cause I just love it! Thanks for your professional overview of your business and sharing!
Kenneth shares very practical, actionable insights that he has discovered as a freelancer through his own experience and set the foundation for anyone looking to get started as a freelancer building their own business. Understanding the importance of valuing your skills and expertise, to form customized solutions for clients that solve their pain points and avoid being seen as a commoditized hourly worker is critical for all freelancers, and Kenneth explains it all very well in an easy-to-understand, succinct way.
Still waiting for more reviews to come in, but as you see it can’t be all that bad!
Early this week I met up with the company that I told about last week. They hire consultants within the IT industry for clients they find and we had a really nice chat. I got to learn a bit more about what it is they actually do, and they got to know me better. I left the meeting with the option to move forward if I would like to work with them. Didn’t expect that, but it seemed like we were a great fit straight away. I will keep you updated on this progress and how successful this will be.
I got an email from Kenn Schroder, and this reminded me of that it was with him this whole process started. This was actually back in 2012! I bought his book Web Design Clients Galore, we kept in touch and connected through social media. Hadn’t heard from him in a while, but he reached out and wanted to know how things were going. I shared my book with him, and my journal of course. He liked what he read and wanted to have someone to mastermind with, how awesome is that! So hopefully we’ll schedule a call next week.
Chad Fullerton is someone I know from a Facebook group for Freelancers (let me know if you would like to join and I’ll invite you) that I’m in. He reached out to me and wanted to do a webinar about my book and talk about pricing strategies! I feel honored and blessed to even be asked! This will happen some time at the end of this month. Sign up to my mailing list and I’ll send you a link to the webinar when the time comes.
And to top this week of! I spent about 15 minutes sending emails to people that has followers who thought would benefit from book and to let them know about my free promotion. 1stwebdesigner posted a link to my book on their Facebook page (9.5K followers) and Twitter account (52.5K followers)! With all of their followers, that’s just awesome! Thanks guys!
Start writing a second book
Wow, what a week! Don’t you agree?! I mean, I spent in total around 12 hours writing my first book. That’s from start to published actually! My plan now is to start on my second book, just need to find a good topic to write about.
If you have read my first book, I would love to hear what you thought of it! Please comment below and we’ll get discussion going.
If you haven’t, grab a copy for no more than a Grande Latte!
All right, talk to you next week!
